After numerous production delays, Tesla finally gave its first 18-wheeler semi truck to Pepsi in 2017.

The electric vehicle manufacturer's first item besides passenger cars is the Tesla Semi.

In December of last year, Elon Musk said, "If you're a trucker and want the most badass rig on the road, this is it."

The two variations may travel a maximum distance of 300 or 500 miles when loaded to their maximum weight of 87,000 lbs.

While a few Tesla Semis are already on the road, the cost is currently unclear.

Tesla predicted that the 500-mile Semi will cost $180,000 in 2017.

The construction of a smaller-range electric vehicle would cost $150,000.
