At the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, a Tesla Model S Plaid racecar was able to break a previous record.
The "Dark Helmet" finished the hill climb in a time under ten minutes, at 9:54.901.
The Model S Plaid Pikes Peak racer is not all that different from other Fremont Factory-built Plaid sedans in terms of power.
Several modifications are installed in the Model S Plaid Pikes Peak racer to help the vehicle manage its enormous power.
These include the UP x Ohlins TTX 4-way coilovers, the Superlight Carbon Ceramic Big Brake Kit, the billet aluminium adjustable control arms, and the sway bar.
The vehicle also had Yokohama A005 Biomass tyres mounted on Unplugged Performance UP-03 lightweight race wheels.
After all, these components made it possible to use the Model S Plaid's enormous power to its maximum potential during the race.
Despite its strength and speed, the Model S Plaid is fundamentally a family vehicle.
