As automakers compete to create electric vehicles powered by batteries

They are always vying for anything that would give them an advantage over competitors.

Toyota announced plans to cut the size and price of the power units for its electric cars in half.

They are to be made safer and to be able to charge more quickly.

Currently available liquid lithium-ion electrolyte batteries are used in electric vehicles.

But EVs that use liquid batteries have a number of well-known drawbacks.

such as being quite heavy and requiring considerably more time to recharge than gasoline cars do.

Additionally, they are flammable, particularly if the batteries overheat.
